Technical problems at Ardrossan Harbour coupled with similar issues further north in Gourock has resulted in the vessel making a rare visit to Troon.
Calmac has issued the following information for intending passengers on the busy North Ayrshire service:
Due to the failure of both linkspans at Ardrossan, an amended timetable will today operate with sailings between Brodick & Troon. Service will operate from East berth in Troon, customers are advised to follow signs for Troon East Pier.
The timetable will be as follows:
Depart Ardrossan – 09:45 (passenger only) Arrive Brodick – 10:40 Depart Brodick – 11:05 (For traffic originally booked on 11:05) Arrive Troon – 12:30 Depart Troon – 13:15 (For traffic originally booked on 12:30 Ardrossan departure) Arrive Brodick – 14:40 Depart Brodick – 15:05 (For traffic originally booked on 13:55) Arrive Troon – 16:30 Depart Troon – 17:15 (For traffic originally book on 15:20 Ardrossan departure) Arrive Brodick – 18:40 Depart Brodick – 19:05 (For traffic originally booked on 16:40) Arrive Troon – 20:30 Depart Troon – 21:15 (For traffic originally booked on 18:00 Ardrossan departure) Arrive Brodick – 22:40
Customers booked on above sailing do not need to phone to rebook their sailings. Original tickets will be accepted.
Customers booked on the 19:20 departing Brodick are advised to use the Claonaig – Lochranza route.
Due to using Troon as an emergency port whilst linkspan issue is ongoing, please note there are no passenger facilities in Troon. Passenger facilities will be available on board as normal. Please take this into consideration when making plans to travel.
Foot passengers travelling by car need to park in Ardrossan and get the bus, provided by CalMac Ferries, to Troon. The bus for foot passengers will depart Ardrossan at 12:20 to connect with the 13:15 Troon departure. Further bus departure times will be updated when available. Customers are advised there are no parking facilities at Troon port.
Please note: Unbooked customers and customers displaced from yesterday is advised to travel Calonaig – Lochranza to guarantee sailing. Transport will be arranged for foot passengers from Ardrossan – Troon and Troon – Ardrossan.
CalMac is exerting pressure on Peel Ports to bring the Ardrossan Linkspan back into service. Investigations remain ongoing and we hope to resolve the issue with the linkspan as soon as possible.
MV Loch Riddon will be deployed to support MV Catriona on the Lochranza – Claonaig service, with a two vessel service from 13:30 onwards. MV Catriona will be operating her normal timetable until 13:30 then the vessels will shuttle. This is a non-bookable route on a first come, first served basis.
